Mutations Tier List

Tier philosophy

Mutations multiply Animal Cash (earning rate and sale value) in +1 Strength for Eggs. Higher multipliers and easier uptime rank higher. Weather-gated 2x mutations are still excellent — they are not “low tier,” they are timed tier.

Confirmed multipliers: Gold 2x, Diamond 2.5x, Rainbow 3x, Hacked 2x, Lava 2x, Toxic 2x. Spotting rules (yellow / blue / dynamic shells; weather nameplates): How to Get Mutations. Weather windows: Weather Events.

S tier

Rainbow — 3x (Natural)

Rainbow is the undisputed S-tier mutation — the only 3x and the rarest natural roll. A 3x placed Animal warps the economy: Dumbbell shop rows that felt impossible start falling, rebirth cycles shorten, and offline Cash jumps hard. Any time you can roll or secure a Rainbow Egg (dynamic colors), cancel side quests, extract to the Safe Zone, hatch, place, and upgrade.

Keep Rainbow pets through rebirth planning — Rebirth keeps Dumbbells and rewards boards that already print.

A tier

Diamond — 2.5x (Natural)

Diamond is the clear A-tier pick. It is not Rainbow, but 2.5x beats every 2x mutation and still drops from natural play (blue shell). Prefer Diamond over duplicate Gold/Hacked/Lava/Toxic when board slots are tight (Best Animals, Farm Expansion).

B tier

All remaining mutations share a 2x multiplier. They rank together in B-tier for power, with situational notes:

MutationMultiplierConditionNotes
Gold2xNaturalBest “always available” 2x via yellow-shell volume farming
Hacked2xHacked WeatherSprint when the sky says Hacked; read nameplates
Lava2xLava WeatherSame urgency as other weather muts; nameplate ID
Toxic2xToxic WeatherSame urgency; do not AFK the window

B-tier still means “replace non-mutated Animals immediately.” A Gold pet is a massive upgrade over a base hatch. Weather 2x pets match Gold’s power — timing is the only difference.

Practical priority order

  1. Rainbow 3x (S)
  2. Diamond 2.5x (A)
  3. Any weather 2x you can finish before the event ends
  4. Gold 2x via steady natural grinding
  5. Base Animals only as fillers

When tiers mislead

  • A B-tier Hacked 2x pet during Hacked weather is more valuable right now than dreaming about Rainbow.
  • An S-tier Rainbow Egg you fail to carry is worth zero — Safe Zone discipline beats tier labels (Safe Zone Egg Carry).
  • Multiple B-tier 2x pets can out-earn one neglected Diamond if you actually upgrade and place them (Animals Hub).

Synergy with Dumbbells and walls

Mutation Cash buys the progression S-tiers on the Dumbbells Tier List and funds Strength for walls. Biome unlocks (including Ancient Egypt) increase Egg volume for natural Rainbow/Diamond attempts. Admin Abuse windows can spike chaos but do not change the multiplier table.

Chase Rainbow 3x, respect Diamond 2.5x, and treat every weather 2x as a timed raid boss on your calendar.

Farming routes tied to each tier

S-tier Rainbow (3x) routes: Sweep every biome you can enter safely. Rainbow Eggs are the rarest natural rolls, so volume matters more than camping a single corner. Prefer paths with short returns to the Safe Zone so one contested steal does not wipe a 3x chance. If you already hold Rainbow pets, still grab extras for board upgrades or index goals.

A-tier Diamond (2.5x) routes: Treat Diamond like a softer Rainbow. Same natural spawn rules, slightly more common in practice for many players. When inventory is full, drop non-mutated Eggs before you drop Diamond. Upgrade Diamond Animals early — 2.5x scales with every Cash multiplier from Rebirth.

B-tier Gold (2x) routes: Gold is your filler farm between weather events. While training with a mid-tier Dumbbell, scan for yellow Gold Eggs and bank them. A base full of Gold pets often out-earns one neglected Diamond that never got upgraded.

B-tier weather (2x) routes: When Hacked, Lava, or Toxic skies hit, abandon Gold volume grinding. Sprint the matching mutation only — identify via nameplate text. See Weather Events for prep, and remember a weather 2x hatched now beats a theoretical Rainbow you fail to carry.

Board composition examples

  • Early game: 1–2 Gold 2x pets + free group Animal + whatever Diamond 2.5x you luck into
  • Mid game: Diamond core, Gold fillers, swap in weather 2x the moment they hatch
  • Late game: Rainbow 3x anchors, Diamond supports, weather pets as temporary spikes while you buy Celestial Dumbbells toward Void Star

Cross-check Animal slot upgrades on the Animals Hub and Farm Expansion so high-tier mutations actually have room to sit and print offline Cash.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Why is Rainbow the only S-tier mutation?

It is the only 3x multiplier. Nothing else matches that Cash output on a placed Animal.

Are Hacked, Lava, and Toxic worse than Gold?

Same 2x power. Gold is easier to farm anytime; weather mutations are better when their event is live because you can focus sprints.

Should I sell Gold for board space if I get Diamond?

Sell the weakest earners first. Diamond usually replaces a non-mutated or weaker duplicate, not necessarily your only Gold.

Do mutations affect Strength training speed?

Indirectly — they multiply Animal Cash so you buy better Dumbbells faster. They do not replace equipping a stronger Dumbbell.

How many Rainbow pets should I keep?

Keep every Rainbow you can place. If slots are full, expand the base or replace the weakest non-Rainbow earner first.

Is Gold ever better than a weather mutation?

Same 2x power. Gold is better between events; weather mutations are better during their live window because you can focus the farm.
